Blumenhaus is an independent publication - a mook, a luxurious hybrid of an art book and a magazine founded and designed with care by Camille Gressier & Isabelle Laydier Kristensen. At the crossroads of botany, art, history and fashion, it was born between Paris and Brittany from a shared desire: to create freely, without limits or briefs, and to build a world of their own.
This collaboration also marks a natural new chapter in the story of Blumenhaus. For years, readers have been cutting pages from the magazine to hang on their walls. And the timing could not have been more fitting: Blumenhaus had just dedicated an issue to interiors, the intimate garden and the home.
Folk art in full bloom

Enikő Katalin Eged
Enikő Katalin Eged is a Budapest-based illustrator and pattern designer whose work is rooted in visual storytelling, strong atmospheres, and a sense of movement. At the heart of her practice is the idea of familiarity, reconnecting us with small details, memories, and emotions that feel somehow recognizable. Her illustrations often explore animals, still lifes, and emotions, creating narratives that feel both personal and universal.
Sanae Sugimoto
Born in Tottori, Japan, and based in Fukuoka since 2018, Sanae is an artist and illustrator whose work has evolved from many years of oil painting into delicate line drawings created with black ink and vermilion. Inspired by classic literature, young girls, flowers, plants, and animals, she creates quiet, imaginative works that leave space for the viewer’s own stories.
Louise Lockhart
Louise Lockhart is a British illustrator living and working on a farm surrounded by children and animals. From her countryside studio, she creates distinctive designs using hand-cut paper shapes and various print techniques, drawing inspiration from the small details of everyday life that often go unnoticed.
Rachel Altabas
Rachel Altabas grew up in the Tarn region of France, on the doorstep of Spain; a region whose colours, architecture and ornament, left a lasting imprint, from Picasso to Gaudí. Trained in applied arts in Toulouse and then at the École Duperré in Paris, she went on to specialise in colour and textile design at the House of Christian Dior Couture.
Camille Laugié
Camille Laugié draws the way one engraves: with precision, density, and an attention to detail that draws you in close. A textile designer for the past ten years for houses such as Pierre Frey, Christian Lacroix, Manuel Canovas and Fragonard, she also maintains a steady engraving practice, a discipline rooted in a year spent at the Beaux-Arts in Beirut.
A playful addition
I invited two illustrators whose work I have loved for years, and who share a fascination with horses: Japanese artist Sanae Sugimoto and Hungarian artist Enikő Eged. Each took this imaginary world in her own direction, while I drew several of the designs myself.
Together, the three of us created ten wallpapers, wild horses, little riders and ponies, all born from a half-heard song that, as far as we know, never existed.
